This June the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the A. G. Leventis Gallery are organising a two-week creative summer school for our young friends full of art, walks in the city, stories and a lot of… Nicosia!
Drawing inspiration from the temporary exhibition about the Nicosian painter Ioannis Kissonerghis, ‘Chora – Ioannis Kissonerghis’ (17.05-30.10.2022), at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, as well as from the paintings of the Cyprus Collection of the A. G. Leventis Gallery and other works of art and objects from the permanent collections of the two museums, our young friends will take part in fun activities and discover one by one the secrets of ‘Chora’.
This year, for the first time, the summer school will take place at the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, in their renovated Creativity Centre, in the heart of Nicosia. The kids will have the opportunity to hear stories about the walled city and its people and to interact with the two museums, as well as taking part in exciting art and crafts projects.
This summer, art and history become the starting point for play, exploration, creativity and, of course, a unique opportunity to connect with the city – our own Nicosia!
The programme is curated by the museum educators of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and the A. G. Leventis Gallery, Valia Matsentidou and Theodora Demetriou.
