Coronavirus: Positive case at police headquarters

Police spokesman Christos Andreou announced on Thursday that an officer at police headquarters has tested positive to Covid-19, and that all protocols by the Health Ministry have been activated.

He said that all areas where the officer has been will be disinfected today and all his recent contacts are being traced to be placed in isolation for two weeks as stipulated.

It is also likely, he added, that the areas where he worked will be evacuated temporarily with staff moved to different premises.

“Unfortunately our members are in the front line and we were anticipating a Covid-19 case,” Andreou said.

According to insider information, the case concerns an officer who had come into contact with a verified Coronavirus patient and had self-isolated when so informed.
