Coronavirus: Police step up checks for adherence to 75-person limit law

Police stepped up checks on public areas on Thursday for adherence to the new decree announced by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of Coronavirus that set a maximum limit of 75 people gathering together at any one time either indoors or outdoors, philenews reports.

On Thursday police conducted checks in 120 businesses and reported one offence in Nicosia where a cafeteria violated the decree.

On Wednesday police also filed a report against the Limassol casino.

The relevant legislation stipulates that offenders are subject to up to six months in prison or a fine of up to €800.

The person liable in cases of violation is the individual in charge of the premises.
