Coronavirus: Police regulates visitation to detention centres

Police said on Friday that all visits to detainees at police premises are suspended due to Coronavirus and that it will expand telephone services provided to inmates to counter the measure.

In addition, it announced that the public should only attend police’s service points in person when absolutely necessary.

People wishing to obtain a clear criminal record certificate or other documents should not do so in person; for this purpose, boxes will be placed at the competent district offices for fulfilling such requests to prevent the public from coming into contact with members of the police.

Services pertinent to the issuing / transfer of firearm permits are suspended.

Finally, the police call on the public to limit their visits to local police stations to the absolutely necessary and opt for telephone communication instead.
