Authorities were put on alert at around 7 pm on Wednesday after they were notified that a passenger on board a flight from the UK to Larnaca was exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
It said that the flight was from Gatwick with about 148 passengers and five crew.
One of the passengers, a 28 year old Greek Cypriot, was running a high fever and was taken to the medical facilities at Larnaca Airport and from there to Nicosia General Hospital for tests.
The passengers and crew were taken to an area at the old terminal where they are being examined by medical staff, the news agency added.
Meanwhile, the aircraft was parked at a distance from the airport terminal and is being disinfected in line with regulations.
Cyprus has six confirmed cases of coronavirus — all Greek Cypriots. Two tested positive today after arriving from the UK yesterday and were found to have temperature.
