The Health Ministry has added Singapore and Hong Kong to the list of destinations from which passengers are to be screened.
In an announcement on Friday, the ministry said that in view of the continuing spread of the virus outside China, and even though WHO and ECDC instructions have not changed, the epidemiological surveillance unit has decided to extend checks to passengers who have travelled to the following countries in the past 14 days:
- Northern Italy : Veneto-Venice, Lombardy-Milan, Emilia-Romagna-Bologna, Piedmont-Turin
- South Korea
- Hong Kong
At the same time people who have travelled to Cyprus from those area are advised to avoid large congregations of people, to monitor themselves and in the event they show symptoms of a respiratory infection (temperature, cough, difficulty breathing) within 14 days of their return to remain at home and immediately call the 24 hour help line on the toll free number 1420.
