Coronavirus: Larnaca Municipality calls for food donations, cancels national holiday parades

The Larnaca Municipality has called for food and monetary donations to its Social Grocery Store programme (Koinoniko Pantopolio) in an announcement on Monday.

The municipal authorities urged businesses and the public to “support the Social Grocery Store programme and the #stayhome and help the vulnerable and elderly programme” as many people are left without income and many without food following the temporary closure of businesses as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19.

People who wish to donate any amount can do so at the bank account 314-01-244-239-04 (Hellenic Bank).

The municipality also said that as part of measures to prevent mass gatherings, it is cancelling all public events, including the annual parades on the national holidays of March 25 and April 1.

It earlier announced the shutting down of its municipal gardens and the parking lot at Mackenzie area after people were seen gathering there during the weekend.
