Another four people have tested positive for coronavirus in Cyprus, bringing the total to six, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Informed sources said that all four — three men and one woman — are all Greek Cypriot.

The official announcement from the ministry said that according to information received from the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics four people had tested positive as follows:

  • Two people who came from the UK last night and were found to have a high temperature by the thermal camera at the medical room of Larnaca Airport. They were transferred to and are being treated at specially adapted facilities at Nicosia General Hospital
  • One person who was hospitalised yesterday at  specially adapted facilities at Limassol General Hospital and who had contacted authorities after developing a fever
  • One person who was in self-isolation at home and who developed symptoms and contacted the authorities

The Health Ministry has already started tracing the contacts of the four confirmed cases and will be taking samples to carry out the necessary tests.

Informed sources from the ministry said none of the four have had any contact with either of the two previous confirmed cases — a heart surgeon from Nicosia and a 25 year old man from Limassol who had comes from the UK and Milan respectively.
