Coronavirus: Cyprus High Commission in London sets up 2 hotlines

The Cyprus High Commission in London is setting up two telephone lines to assist Cypriots stranded in the UK following the introduction of new rules requiring all arrivals to have a health certificate that they have tested negative for coronavirus.

Meanwhile a meeting is underway at the Presidential Palace to review the entry rules and see how to help ‘special cases’.

The Cyprus High Commission is currently operating on a skeleton staff because of the coronavirus outbreak, but personnel are working the phones, the Cyprus News Agency said.

Meanwhile, on posts on Facebook, UK Cypriots who operate hotels an hostels in Britain are trying to help by offering accommodation to stranded Cypriots at cost price, the news agency added.

The High Commission of Cyprus in the UK has urged Cypriots stranded in the UK in an emergency to contact them directly via Facebook or Twitter, electronically by filling in the form enquiry  found on the website and via the email [email protected]
