Coronavirus: Cyprus airports open, entry prohibitions from March 15

Larnaca and Paphos International Airports are open and are operating on a 24 hours basis, seven days a week, Hermes airports announced on Saturday while urging passengers to consult their representatives for airline changes in their flight schedule.

In an announcement on its website and on Twitter, Hermes Airports added:

Following the address made by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, from 1 a.m. of 15 March 2020 and for a period of 15 days, a prohibition of entry is applicable to any citizen – regardless of nationality – who does not fall into the following categories:

(a) Cypriot citizens

(b) Legal residents in the Republic of Cyprus

(c) European nationals or third-country nationals working in the Republic

(d) Nationals of countries who are in a designated diplomatic service or mission under bilateral or international conventions

(e) Individual cases of European nationals or third-country nationals for unavoidable professional obligations, provided that the relevant authorization has been obtained from the competent Ministry

(f) European or third country citizens attending educational institutions in the Republic of Cyprus

People who fall in one of the above mentioned groups and arrive in Cyprus from the District of Hubei in China, Italy, Iran and the Republic of Korea must remain in isolation under medical observation for 14 days.

In other cases, people will remain in self isolation and self observation for 14 days  and contact the responsible authorities of the Republic of Cyprus in case they exhibit any symptoms related to COVID-19.

Citizens of the above mentioned categories can leave the country given that they do not exhibit any symptoms.

People who have arrived in the country before the commencement of the decree are advised to remain in the country for 14 days from the date of their arrival and proceed with self isolation and self observation.
