Pancyprian school authority Psese announced on Thursday that it will step up measures for disinfecting public schools, which will close for one week from Friday, March 13 to Friday, March 20 as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Psese president Dinos Ellinas said that the schools’ cleaning staff as well as kindergarten school assistants will work normally for the entire period the schools will remain closed to disinfect all school areas with special focus on chairs, desks and toilets.
Technical staff will also work normal hours to conduct repairs where needed, and so will messengers to cover the needs of local school authorities. Areas with more than one messenger in employment will instruct them to work on rotation.
The announcement concluded that supporting secretarial staff, school assistants and aides for disabled children will remain at home and return to work on Monday, March 23.
