A total of 1391 passengers left on 11 rescue flights from Paphos Airport, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

It said that the flights were to Berlin, London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Another flight for London Gatwick is scheduled to depart Paphos at 15:40.

A ban on all passenger flights is in force from 3 am on Saturday as part of measures to restrict the spread of coronavirus, but rescue flights to bring back Cypriots from abroad as well as flights to take visitors stranded in Cyprus home are excluded.
