A total of 1401 civil marriages were carried out in Paphos Municipality in 2018, up by 131 over the previous year, Lia Costi, who heads the municipality’s department told the Cyprus News Agency on Wednesday.

She said that 75% of these were between couples from Britain, and close to 25% from Israel.

Newly-weds to be prefer beach hotels, as well the Lemba Vrysi area which she said is a scenic venue with a bridge and wild vegetation.

Civil weddings are also held at the town hall, at Kato Paphos harbour and other coastal areas within the municipality, she added.
