Bounty on Belarus woman’s suspected killer brings in information-police

A bounty of €20,000 for the suspected killer of a 36-year-old Belarus woman and mother of three has prompted citizens to come forward and give information to police investigators, Philenews reported on Thursday.

Aistis Mikalauskas – the 29-year-old Lithuanian suspect in Sunday’s murder of Iryna Hurskaya in Ayios Tychonas, Limassol – is still at large but police said his arrest is imminent.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Mikalauskas (pictured below) who was seen visiting frequently the home of the victim – a permanent resident of Cyprus – on Monday, and her family’s bounty was announced shortly afterwards.

A post mortem examination revealed that she was strangled after a possible fierce fight.

Ongoing investigations determined the two were not in a relationship but that they were talking about setting up a job together – something that never happened.

Hurskaya, the divorced mother of three, was found dead by her 15-year-old son and one of her girlfriends who was ringing her mobile for hours and got concerned from receiving no answer.

Her other two children, aged four and six, were with their Cypriot father since Friday afternoon.
