Blood donations as normal, new appeal

Blood donations continue as normal, in line with pandemic restrictions and safety protocols, said the Health Ministry’s Blood Centre in a new appeal, calling on people to come in and give blood, as well as voluntary committees organising donations, not to cancel them.

The number to call if organised groups wish to donate is 22809098, the Blood Centre direct line.

People who have travelled abroad recently, have flu symptoms or any other respiratory problems, as well as individuals in contact with a confirmed or suspected coronavirus case cannot give blood for at least 28 days.

The Centre reminds donors that blood is vital for many people, including people being operated on, injuries and tranfusions.

Donors can donate at the following centres:

Νicosia: Εngomi Health Centre

Limassol: Saint George Havouza Church Hall

Larnaca: Former Famagusta Cooperative Conference Hall

Paphos: Saint Paul and Barnabas Church Hall

Famagusta: Panayia Liopetri Church Hall
