Aniseed koulourakia

Ingredients

1 cup herb butter

1 cup sunflower or corn oil

1 cup sugar

1 cup orange juice

1 pinch of baking soda

2 cups of ouzo

2 tablespoons of anise

3 teaspoons of baking powder

1 kg of flour

1 ½ cup sesame

Method

Step 1:

Add 2 cups of water in a saucepan and, when boiled, add the sesame. Boil for 2-3 minutes and strain. Apply a towel on a round tray or any other surface and put the sesame in. Spread it well and cover it.

Step 2:

In a bowl, sift the flour and baking powder. Add the anise and stir. Melt the butter and let it cool down. Put it together with the oil and sugar in the mixer. Mix until the mixture has dipped. Then use the dough hook and add the orange juice at low speed after adding the baking soda, ouzo and a little bit of the flour mixture.

Step 3:

Take the dough out of the mix and divide the dough into 5 “loaves”. Then press them with your hands to spread. The size depends on how thick and wide you want your koulourakia to be. Put the “loaves” in sesame and press them to stick. You also turn them to cover the with sesame.

Step 4:

Put non-stick labels on a baking sheet and preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Put the “loaves” on the baking pan and cut them into thin slices. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 5:

Allow the loaves to cool. Cut the slices and spread them on the baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn the buns and cook for another 10 minutes. If you want them to be drier, put them in the oven for another 5-10 minutes.
