Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi have discussed issues of mutual interest, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Covid-19 pandemic issues.
The telephone conversation took place late on Thursday, and Anastasiades announced it on his Twitter account.
Cyprus-Egypt relations have blossomed in recent years mainly founded on an alliance to make the East Mediterranean a stable energy hub also requiring military and political cooperation.
As part of regional energy cooperation, in January 2019, seven countries – Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and Italy – launched the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.
