All 10 defendants in the case of the Cooperative found not guilty

The Nicosia Criminal Court yesterday found not guilty all 10 of the defendants in the case of the Cooperative Society.

According to the verdict no offence has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt while the testimony presented by the Prosecution did not lead to any criminal offences.

Even though the Court admitted that the defendants were operating arbitrarily and that there was no control in the processes followed for lending, their behavior was not criminally wrong.

The defendants were Dimitrakis Stavrou, secretary general of the Strovolos Cooperative, his daughter Karolina Angelopoulou and his secretary Maria Chrysanthou. Also former Governor of the Cooperative Erotokritos Chlorakiotis and his wife Maria, former superintendent Konstantinos Lyras and estimator Georgios Mavreas. The accused companies were Detiero Entrprises Ltd, CHL Enterprises Ltd and Ktimatiki Kotrona Ltd.
