Alassa is 12 km away from the city of Limassol. Kouris Dam, the largest dam of Cyprus, belongs to the community of Alassa. The village was transferred to its current location in 1985 because of the construction of the dam. The old village does not exist anymore. The ruins of the church of Agios Nikolaos are visible when the water of the dam is at low levels.
At the area a roman mansion of the 5th century AC. was discovered. Other excavations show that the area was inhabited since the bronze age.
