9,282 students so far who remained abroad during Easter have received the €750 special allowance by the government, Education Minister Prodromos Prodromou told CNA on Thursday.
Beneficiaries are students who remained in their country of studies after March 21 when a travel ban was put in place by Cyprus to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The allowance is paid directly into the bank account of the students provided that they submit proof of studies via an application submitted through the Education Ministry’s web portal.
Prodromou said that so far 14,823 applications have been submitted through the platform and said that payments and evaluation of applications are ongoing.
Finally, he reminded that the application process is open until April 22.
