76 year old man held for indecent assault

A 76 year old man is under arrest as police investigate a complaint of indecent assault against two teenage girls in Nicosia, Phileleftheros reported on Thursday.

It said that the alleged offences against the two sisters aged 12 and 13 occurred a few days ago.

According to the newspaper the 13 year old had gone to the suspect’s establishment to buy something to eat.

He offered to heat it up, and asked her to follow him to another room where he allegedly hugged her and touched her breasts. He then offered to give her €5 and urged her not to tell her parents.

She refused, left the money and went home and told her parents, in the presence of her sister who said the same thing had happened to her.

The second sister said that he had invited her inside as she was walking outside the premises and he hugged her, also offering €5 so that she would not tell anyone.

The mother reported the issue to police who arrested the man. He appeared before Nicosia district court on Wednesday which remanded him in custody for eight days as police continue their inquiries.

According to Phileleftheros, during his arrest the suspect said that he had touched the 13 year old ‘accidentally’.
