Cabinet on Tuesday agreed to cover the cost for 500 Covid-19 tests among judges, lawyers and court officials.
The decision was taken after consultations between the Justice and Health Ministers and with the agreement of the Supreme Court.
The testing will be islandwide, with the number of tests distributed proportionately in all the districts. All judges, lawyers and court officers who work at the courts are eligible.
The Council of Ministers said its decision was taken in view of the importance of testing as part of efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The procedure will be implemented by the Justice Ministry in consultation with the Supreme Court. The Health Ministry will enter into agreements with labs to carry out the tests.
The initial proposal was made by the president of the Cyprus Bar Association to the Justice Minister.
