A 19 year old man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a road collision in Trachoni on January 23, the fifth road fatality this year.
The teen’s organs have been donated to help others.
Grigoris Pikis suffered critical head injuries when the car he was driving went off course and collided head-on with a car driven by a 21 year old man.
The 19 year old was thrown out of the car. He was taken to Limassol Hospital and from there transferred to Nicosia Hospital because of the critical nature of his injuries where he was in intensive care.
Pikis was serving in the National Guard and also played football for APEA Akrotiri FC which announced his death on Thursday.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our player Grigoris Pikis. All club activities are cancelled until further notice,” it said.
